Thanks 'JDLifeshots', I really appreciate that. What I'd like to know is... How many entries were there? Any ideas how I can find out? Cheers.

Location
I took this picture whilst on holiday in Hurghada,Egypt. It is a really attractive villa built on an island about 300 metres from the shore in The Red Sea.Time
It was about lunchtime and I was just walking along the shoreline when I saw this place. As I reached the road bridge I walked down it a bit and just took the picture. It looked so impressive in colour but the sky was just a very boring light blue.Lighting
When I got home and uploaded the image to my computer, I could see that everything about it worked. The lighting, the composition, the leading line with it's small curve... But I still wasn't happy about the blank sky.Equipment
Took this picture with a hand held Nikon D40X through an 18-55mm lens... Thats all!Inspiration
It was just one of those times when you're walking along, scanning everything and just hoping for that certain picture. When I came across this villa and it's bridge it was the only inspiration required.Editing
I mentioned the baron sky earlier and that I was unhappy with it. I tried a variety of coloured skies to enhance the picture in colour but it just didn't work, even with a heavily stormy sky. And it was then that I decided to try it in monochrome.... I was more than happy with the result. In my camera bag
I will normally go out armed with my camera, which is currently a Nikon D3200. My trusty 18-55mm lens, a wide angle lens and a zoom. On this particular occasion the landscapes were very minimalist and I only required my old trusty 18-55.Feedback
If you want to catch something similar and believe me, I am nothing special, look firstly to your leading lines. A great leading line can make a picture whether it's a path, boardwalk, road or bridge. The subject matter doesn't always have to be fantastic when you have that leading line. If you have a great sky behind your subject, then all the better, but it's not the be all and end all. You can do so much today in the post-processing of your photograph. Photoshop is wonderful for all sorts of cheats. DON'T be worried about the word cheat. My aim in photography is to produce pictures that people want to look at and if post-processing is what makes a good picture great.... Then, why not? Happy snapping!
