Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during our pictorial historic adventure walk of Concord NH. This is the church located behind the NH Capital Building. I recall wanting to capture a photo of this church, however, the sun was blinding me. I just snapped a few pictures, hoping I would turn out a good one. I was amazed with my capture! I love the way the sun glares down as a cross. This seems especially fitting for this particular photo.

Time

This photo was definitely one of the best of our adventure. It was taken at about 2:30 in the afternoon. I distinctly recall this as it was just before our break at the State Library. After our break, we made our way over to the front of the Capital Building where the sundial is. The time on the sundial clearly shows that it was 3 o'clock.

Lighting

I had no special lighting effects other than that of the natural sunlight. This seemed to work very well.

Equipment

I also had no special equipment to use other than my judgement of what angle to hold my camera. I took this photo with my phone. The camera on this phone has no flash. It does zoom a little but nothing as nice as a real camera or even an iPod for that matter. I happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Inspiration

Finn and I took an historical adventure walk through the city. I wanted a photo of this church as I admired it's architecture , design and beauty. The sun was blinding me and I wasn't quite sure that I would be able to get the shot. I was very blessed this spring.

Editing

There was no post processing with this photo.

In my camera bag

I am not fortunate enough to have a camera bag. I use the camera on my phone. I hope to one day have a nice bag of goodies. Photography has always been my favorite hobby. Its been some time since I've enjoyed photographing. I recently rediscovered my love of photography and have been enjoying it once again.

Feedback

My only advice for others trying to capture this type of photo is to have patience and just go for it. You may be very surprised with your results. I would also advise that one takes many shots. An angle can make the difference between a good photo a great award winning photo.
