Location
This photo was taken in pleasant grove Utah, at the stable where we used to board our horses.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon early evening.Lighting
Not much to share but it is just all natural light from the early evening sun.Equipment
The camera I use is a Nikon D3100 and I can't remember but I believe it was with my Nikkor 55mm-200 mm lens. No flash just all natural lighting. I do have a vertical battery grip for easy shooting.Inspiration
I was trying to capture a updated photo of my horse Bentley to document her recovery progress as she was a rescue case that had been starved and abandoned by her previous owner. She ran up to me, stopped, held her head high and I snapped this photo.Editing
The only post-processing I did on this photo was a simple crop to cut out the corral fence. In my camera bag
I carry with me a speed light flash and defusers, a series of lens filters including Marco. I have reflectors and remote shutter release, and of course my camera and lenses.Feedback
When trying to capture photos of horses I try my best to be aware of where my lighting and the quality of that lighting. When capturing a portrait of a horse i like to get them to put their ears forward, I accomplish this by making clicking noise to grab their attention. I feel horses with their ears forward make for a pleasant photo.
