Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken from the Isle of Canna in the Inner Hebrides, on the West Coast of Scotland, from Tarbert Beach. It is looking over to the mountains of the Island of Rum. I am very lucky yo live here as it is very hard to take a bad photo, no matter hat the weather is like! From calm sunsets to mountainous , stormy waves, we have it all!

Time

it was taken mid afternoon in early Spring on one of the rare 'calm' Spring days.

Lighting

Lighting is rarely a problem in the Hebrides there is a very distinctive, natural light that is a gift to a photographer

Equipment

I used the only photographic equipment I possess, yet, that is my Iphone5. I find living here, you need to have a camera to hand at all times , to catch that split second when the light is just perfect or the clouds are just in the right place- whip out the phone and catch that fleeting second..

Inspiration

Something about the 'layers' struck me that is a word I use frequently about photography in the Scottish islands- the 'layers' of sand, sea, hills, cloud, just encompasses the whole landscape. Layers- 'Struthan' in Scottish Gaelic

Editing

Just a touch more blue to the sky to increase the contrast, but that was it!

In my camera bag

My phone! Nowt else!
