This image was taken while my fiancee' and I took a walk around our neighborhood. The lady that lived there must have saw me taking photographs of her Rose of Sharon bush, and thought I was looking in the window, but I assured her I wasn't and showed her the whole set of photographs I had shot, and we all talked a little while. When I was editing the image I saw how the veins in the blossom showed up nice and sharp, and for reasons like seeing an article on black and white photography, in Outdoor Photographer magazine and having found a book I had picked up some where on the subject, I decided this image would do real well as a black and white image. How soon after I took the original picture I happened to convert it to black and white I can't say. I believe I used Lightroom to make the original adjustments, like contrast, clarity, vibrance, and I almost always sharpen my image. Then converted to black and white later making some slight adjustments in contrast, and tweeked the colors such as blues and reds, which caused the pink flower show up as a very white white, and accented the shadows to help the veins in the pedals even more distinct. Oh, and the ant just had to make its presence known by standing tall at the top of the blossom.
