Sălciua is located in the northern county of Alba, on Aries Valley, at a distance of about 100 km from Alba Iulia (the county seat) and 15 km from Baia de Aries, the nearest town, on the national road DN 75 : Cāmpeni - Sălciua - Turda.

Located in the middle river basin, between Trascău and Big Mountain, in a basin depression has a specific mountain relief, developed on limestone and crystalline schists. The altitude varies between 700 and 1400 m. Meadow broader Aries is suitable for agriculture here being cultivated extensive areas, which I drew the name "Bărăganul Apuseni Mountains".

The variety of karst topography, through its spectacular flora and fauna, and climatic characteristics make it attractive for tourists. Also, in the village of Valea Larga there is a historic wooden church.
