Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at my Daughter's house while taking care of my Grandson. I always bring my camera. I love photographing my Grandchildren.

Time

I took this photo at 12:30 pm on 04/19/02016.

Lighting

I loved how the light made his beautiful eyes sparkle. I didn't use any type of flash. This was all natural lightening.

Equipment

My camera is a Nikon D7000, I used a 50mm lens set at f 1.8

Inspiration

This is my youngest Grandson who spent his first 7 weeks of life in the NICU at Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago. At 3 days old he had major surgery. I always bring my camera to document his life since then. I am going to make a movie from my photographs for him, I want to show all his moods through his first year of life. Because of what he went through, I'm a bit obsessed in photographing him.

Editing

I shoot in Raw did minimal touch up, brought the white balance to where I though it should be.

In my camera bag

I always have my 50mm and my 18-55 mm

Feedback

You really have to always have your camera with you and be ready for that perfect candid shot. I like to capture those moments that can easily be forgotten. I was on the floor playing with him when I took this photograph. I always go down to his level, I want to always capture those beautiful eyes and the pure innocence of childhood.
