This photo was taken from my garden in Surrey, UK,Time
I set up with my camera on a tripod at daylight/dark turn over, as to photo the moon at night will fool the light entering the lens so the moon will to bright and the background to dark, Pick a set of about 10 min apart from a medium-light blue sky and work every 10 mins until the sky gets dark,Lighting
dont shoot the moon at night, shoot late daylight hoursEquipment
This was taken with a Nikon F700, bridge camera, this camera is amazing, A small bag size camera that can give a DSLR equivalent 28-1440mm Set to M (manual) wind open the aperture to F6.5 and shutter to 2000, with this camera there is a setting for multi burst, this was set as a single shot would make camera shake and ruin the pic, (trust me I have tried it),Inspiration
i had seen other moon shots and wanted to see if i could do thisEditing
I don’t like to post process as I believe the picture should be seen how it was taken, however sometimes I may increase contrast a very small amount, but nothing else,In my camera bag
my normal equipment is Nikon DSLR, starting with a D90, not being able to afford a new Nikon I looked on EBay and won a bid on a Nikon D2x, still a fab camera but I think let down by the screen for viewing the picture taken, I had to save up for a Nikon D750, I love this even though I haven’t had it long I have already rattled of 20k photos, it like a rifle, with a long lens you feel like a sniper.Feedback
The moon will also move through your lens so you have to move the camera so the moon is just in shot and let the earth move you to get the moon in the centre. I know its not pin sharp, but I was so happy with a pic like this from a small bridge camera I had to share it.
