I took this photo at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse in Victoria, British Columbia on the waterfront. It is a beautiful sight especially in the fall where all the colors seemed so vibrant when I took this picture.Time
This was taken on October 11, 2015 at around 2:15 pm. I remember this day so vividly because I was so excited to spend time with my parents in such a gorgeous place, and see the sights. This area was not too busy at the time when we arrived, so it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves, which allowed me to get all of the shots that I could think of.Lighting
The day was quite cloudy with at moments some blue sky and sunlight peaking through which I think really added to the cool lighting in this photo, and made it unique.Equipment
To take this shot I used my Canon EOS Rebel T3 and my 18-55mm lens. The shot was also taken without a flash.Inspiration
Photographing lighthouses are so fun because there are so many angles to shoot from and they are always so pretty especially just off the water. I really wanted to incorporate the shed with the boat into the stunning sight of the lighthouse, and was able to get a perfect angle to accomplish that.Editing
I did increase the contrast and saturation a bit in order to really bring out the vibrancy of the colors in the photo. I also added a bit of a vignette to the photo, as I felt that it really suited the scene. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EOS Rebel T3 and the lens that came with it with me when I want to take pictures. I would definitely say I am more of a beginner when it comes to photography, so I have not acquired too much equipment, however for now I feel like I have the basics and all I need to be able to be creative and take as many pictures I want and just enjoy it and have fun with it.Feedback
Advice I would give to someone that is trying to capture a scene like this, is to get creative with the angles you are shooting at and to just take as many pictures as you can, because you never know what will work or not if you don't try it. Lastly try to look for situations or objects that compliment each other or would simply look good together, like the shed and lighthouse, its worth keeping your eyes peeled for.
