Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was taken during a photoshoot on Nuns Island. I guess this little fellow was starving. She just climbed down from the tree and was sniffing aroundTime
The shot was taken during the afternoon .Lighting
I was lucky that it was overcast and created a nice soft lighting.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon d7000, on 55 - 300mm lens. I zoomed in on the little fellow to compress the background.Inspiration
The shot was completely by chance. I was out on a photoshoot session on Nuns Island, Montreal. Due to the irregular weather patterns, these little guys were running around the park, scavenging for food. This particular fellow just climbed down from the tree. She was sitting and staying alert of the surrounding. The way she folds her hands in front, was too adorable to miss.Editing
The original shot was slightly under-exposed so that all the details of the little fellow is clear. For post-processing, I darkened the background and lightened the foreground. This will put more emphasizes on the little fellow. In my camera bag
I am an event/portrait photographer. For these situations, I would typically stick to my Nikon D7000 with a 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8 and 18 -105mm lens. In addition, I sometimes use a SB800 flashlight for the cases when lighting become unsuitable. For everyday, I would just carry around a Fujifilm XT-10. It is a smaller camera and very well suited for street photography.Feedback
The composition, the lighting and the subject should not limit what you shoot, the only thing limiting you is your imagination. Always have a camera with you. Whether it is a dslr, a mirrorless or just a smartphone. Everyday life is filled with uncertainties and you never know what you might encounter. Use your eyes to see and capture what you find is of interest.
