Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my home studio.

Time

Mid-day

Lighting

There are two strobes being used in this image. One main with a beauty dish camera right and another overhead in a large softbox.

Equipment

Canon 5d markiii, Canon 24-70 f2.8, two Alienbee strobes

Inspiration

I'm working on a personal project called The Sighthound Project and this image is one of a large group of Sighthound breeds I have photographed.

Editing

I did basic editing in Adobe Camera Raw and then took it into Photoshop for a few minor touches on the backdrop.

In my camera bag

Canon 70-200 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 and vagabond battery pack for my strobe.

Feedback

I did some personal consultations with a behaviorist to learn more about dog behaviors and learning to see light is crucial. I try to plan out images I want from sessions ahead of time. I find this helps to ensure I capture the portrait I want.
