Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the garden of the Oakland California Temple. I was hanging out with a friend over spring break and we came across the beautiful grounds of this temple. It was on Easter weekend, so everything was nice and tidy and all the flowers were in full bloom.

Time

Flowers in full bloom always makes me happy, especially when it's nice and sunny out! I took this photo in the early afternoon, around 1:20PM.

Lighting

I took this photo in the early afternoon, so the lighting was pretty harsh. However, I think the bright light made the white color of the daisies pop even more from the contrasting shaded greenery.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon T3 with an 18-55mm lens and no other equipment.

Inspiration

When I'm not photographing people, I'm busy taking pictures of beautiful flowers or any other parts of nature. I have an appreciation for any kind of pretty flower, and that causes me to look at pictures of flowers online. One kind of photo I was drawn to was a top-down view of daisies. It's a simple flower and has a lovely contrast between it's center and petals. When I came across this bed of daisies, I knew I had to take a bird's-eye view.

Editing

A little bit! I increased the shadows and saturation.

In my camera bag

The only extra equipment I have in my bag are reflectors, which I use when I am shooting portraits. I am college student and still learning photography, so I will be slowing adding new equipment (hopefully a prime lens soon!) to my collection.

Feedback

Always be on the lookout for beauty in everyday life. Have your camera ready to capture it because you never know when you'll encounter something amazing.
