Location
This photograph was taken in my home, in the living room, in a makeshift studio.Time
The photo was taken around 1 or 2pm.Lighting
There wasn't great lighting in the living room, and determined to create good lighting on a budget and without means to fancy equipment, I used a hardware store clamp lamp and a white sheet to create a soft box of sorts for my lighting.Equipment
This image is actually part of my older analog portfolio, and one of my favorite images. I shot it with a Canon Elan 7, 28-80mm f/3.5 lens.Inspiration
I love antiques, and I love to write. We'd had this old typewriter sitting on a shelf for years and I just really wanted to capture it's beauty and its story. Who knows what was written on it in the past. I think writing/journaling is good for the soul, and I wanted an image to remind me of that.Editing
No post processing was done on this image. The film and the image were developed at my home in a bathroom by day, darkroom with scheduled bathroom breaks by night! In my camera bag
Today I carry a Canon 60D and 3 lenses. A prime 50mm f/1.8, 18-135mm f/3.5 and a 70-300mm f/5.6. I also always have a remote, plug in shutter release, tripod and extra batteries and memory cards. In addition I carry a photo journal for inspiration and ideas as well as some odds and ins such as safety pins, clips, and a few smoke emitters just incase I feel like getting real creative!Feedback
Remember you don't have to have a large budget or the most fancy of equipment to produce a great image! With a little ingenuity and some skill, you can create beautiful images out of everyday objects! Get crafty and seek out inspiration, see where it takes you.
