This photo was taken at a lake in Kashmir India in January. These are traditional Kashmiri boats called Shikaras used by the locals for transportation and taking tourists on short rides. Since it was the off season for tourists the boats have been left tied to poles near the centre of the lake (to avoid theft). Though they look abandoned - come spring, these boats will get a fresh lick of paint, coverings for the roof and look as good as new.
