According to the myth, it was the Swedish legendary king Gylfi, who gave the goddess Gefion allowed to keep the country she could plow out of Sweden in the course of a night. Gefion transformed her four Jotuns sons for oxen, and with them she plowed on one night out a portion. What was Sealand, was thrown into the sea between Fyn and Sweden. The survivors hole became Mälaren. To a modern observer it would appear from the lake's extent seem more likely that it would be about the lake Vänern. Snorre call the lake for LogR and there is a tradition of not taking it as Mälaren. Spring Water officially called Gefion, who with his oxen plows Zealand out of Sweden.
