This photo was taken from the passenger window of my Subaru Outback in the parking lot of what used to be a cancer center in Columbia, Missouri. I really wish the building was in better shape so I could have included it. I think it would have added a little more dimension to the photo.Time
It was around 8pm, my personal favorite time for picture taking. Right when the sun starts to go down is when I like to start driving around looking for picture spots. The crazy high humidity levels here have made for so many incredible sunsets this summer. The Missouri sky has not disappointed me this year.Lighting
Try different angles. If it doesn't look good on the first shot then take a step over to the right or left and try again. It doesn't take much movement, at all, to go from an "okay" photograph to an "amazing" photographEquipment
Since I am just starting out in photography I do not have an actual camera yet. All I have been using is my LG V10 phone. Its horrible for night pictures (can't ever get anything to show up very well) and it doesn't do well close up. However, one of the big selling points on this phone is the camera. It's a 16 megapixel camera and as you can see it does very well with landscape photos.Inspiration
Photography and I are still in our honeymoon phase so I still get incredibly excited when I see a sky that looks like this one. My poor boyfriend literally drove like a maniac to get me to a place where I could get a good picture. When you see an amazing sunset like that, you just cannot pass it up.Editing
I've been using a program called iPiccy to do editing on my computer and toolwiz photos to edit on my phone. Of course, since I'm just starting out, I don't mess with too much other than contrast, brightness, saturation, etc. Although I have figured out how to clone and patch on the apps, which has come in really handy for the pesky little orbs that like to show up in photos.In my camera bag
oh, how I live for the day when I have a "bag". Right now I have an enormous bright pink purse my boyfriend has dubbed "the body bag". Of course when I need to take a quick picture my phone is always at the bottom and by the time I dig far enough to find it, the moment has gone. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. A photography bag is a must. I'll be getting one soon.Feedback
Angle is important. Getting a picture of the sun head on isn't really a pleasant thing so go one direction or another to try to get the sun as it "peeks" behind trees, clouds or buildings.
