I took this photo out at our local soccer complex in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The whole soccer complex was carved out of the standard Iowa cornfields. It is a truly beautiful place for sunsets.Time
It was an overcast day all day. As usual I was out at the soccer fields coaching and happened to have my camera. After practice I walked out back and snapped just a couple pictures.Lighting
This was one of those natural lighting moments where everything came together and I was there to capture it. I had been out at the fields for a few hours and saw how the overcast was developing. Then the rays broke through creating quite a sight.Equipment
It was just me and my trusted Canon Rebel XTi with my walking around 17-85mm wide angle lens.Inspiration
The lighting from the sun rays over the corn. It was a beautiful quiet serene moment. The soccer kids were gone, there were no people around. It was just nature, the corn, the light and me. I took a couple pictures, put the camera away and enjoyed the moment.Editing
There were a couple dust specks that I removed but other than that there was no post processing. I rarely ever do any post processing of my images. In my camera bag
As above I always have my trusty Canon XTi (400D), EF-S 17-85mm for walking around, and my EF 70-300mm for watching soccer. I also have a my baby EF 50mm for fun.Feedback
Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time and then recognize that this is the right place and time. In general paying attention to the world around you living in the moment, then "hey that is beautiful I should get a photo of that".
