Location
I took this photo in my dining room. I was just starting out at the time and was always on the lookout for places that would work. I noticed the reflection of the lights on the floor and though if I turned off the lights it could make for a good shot.Time
It was late evening. It being dark out was what actually helped me come up with the idea for the shot.Lighting
Just standard LED Christmas lights with clear wires.Equipment
Canon EOS REBEL T5 with the standard 50mm kit lens and a mini tripod.Inspiration
I had been testing Christmas lights and my daughter was crawling around fascinated by them. I had always loved the images of babies under the tree or playing with lights, but didn't have the right setup for it. Since it was so late (and dark) I thought maybe if I just turn the lights off I didn't really need any of that.Editing
I did some adjustments to the brightness and white balance. I also removed some extra wire that was cluttering up the shot.In my camera bag
Since I'm still just an amateur I only keep my Canon Eos and the two standard kit lenses. I also have extra SD cards, a mini tripod, a cleaning kit and an extra charged battery.Feedback
Since I was just starting out I was really wrapped up on having to have the right backdrops and locations. I didn't have anything close to a studio and sometimes felt discouraged by that. But I have found that by keeping your camera ready and your eyes open you don't always need that and ideas can come from anywhere.
