Behind The Lens

Location

Taken from the Cable Car station at the top of Sugar Loaf an iconic tourist spot that offers breathtaking views all around(normally sunny and clear). Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer in the distance, the impressive bridge to Niteroi and the classic beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema can all be taken in. I am fortunate to have retired from my work at home in England and now spend most of my time in Rio. My wife is a carioca (born in Rio) and we have many friends in different parts of Brazil so I've had lots of opportunities to photograph it's natural beauty, the many different landscapes and the captivating culture full of vibrant life and colourful characters. I am strictly an amateur and wouldn't know the way in and out of Photo Shop but hopefully my images give an opportunity to others to appreciate the things I have seen with very little added. I have nothing against photographers using whatever they can in their pursuance of Creative Art and many have my admiration, its just not for me.

Time

Early afternoon, I think

Lighting

Often bright and sunny in Rio and gets quite hot but this day the cloud was low but it just adds a little mystery to a popular scene.

Equipment

Digital photography opened up a new world for me and extended my hobby to a level I couldn't have imagined. Being in control of the images I produce and projecting what I saw in the way I want made it so much more enjoyable. I have only had 3 cameras and nothing special, the first two were Olympus and now I have a Samsung. I love the super zoom and wide angle options but as a simple see it and shoot man expensive equipment would be wasted on me.

Inspiration

No inspiration needed in this place just look around theres so many pictures and this was a natural.

Editing

Whats post-processing?

In my camera bag

My camera and a bottle of water. Spare eyes would be useful but....
