I take photos of plants and flowers all the time. This particular flower was a bit unusual, as it was one that I had created myself, through specific cross-pollinationEditing

Making sure that it is not windy, so that the plant/flower is still, and that there is nothing "fussy" in the background, to detract from the image I'm trying to capture. If there are additional flowers in background, then I try to make sure that they are out of focus, making sure the flower I'm trying to capture is sharp and in the forefront!
