Behind The Lens

Location

I live in a small city in which I grew up in. Trains have always been a major part of our quaint city. For almost ad long as I can remember, so many people look at the train systems as a hindrance. I wrnt out one day to walk amongst these travelling giants and almost instantly became entranced by them.

Time

Taken in the early afternoon light on a sunny, yet cool day in March...sliding down to check out the cool, yet amazing view under the belly of the "Iron Giant".

Lighting

Being in the right place at the right time is half the challenge with capturing a moment. That day, the lighting & capturing this image was perfect. shortly after I made my way out from under the belly, a CN supervisor kindly asked me to vacate the yard for my own safety.

Equipment

I wish I knew then, what I know now! Taken with my very 1st DSLR (Canon t2i) If only I knew it would be such a popular image, I would have learned about my settings BEFORE venturing out! No flash, just setting my camera to a timer...on my new monopod, laying on my belly on the cold still iced rocks...and click...it turned out kind of "cool".

Inspiration

I was out on that Spring day to "play" with my little T2i to capture some train shots in my quaint city of 12000 people!

Editing

I did do substantial noise reduction and cropping. Using Macphun Creative editing suites.

In my camera bag

I am new to the magical world of photography & have been learning everyday. I have since upgraded to the Canon 7D mark ii using the new Sigma Art lens, as well as the Sigma 18-250mm . portrait lens for my "everyday" shooting. Someday, when I feel I am "worthy" enough to spoil myself with better lenses...I will be doing my homework extensively!

Feedback

I believe art is subjective. Trying to evoke emotion in others when they see your images starts with an emotional moment within while taking the shot. There is & will always be an emotional attatchmemt to trains for me, as they have always been a part of my life in growing up in a "Train Town".
