Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while I was studying abroad in Florence, Italy my junior year of college while I was studying the art and architecture of Italy.

Time

Every afternoon we had free time to walk around and explore the city, on this specific day I wanted to visit the Ponte Vecchio, which is directly across from this bridge. It happened to be one of the nicest, and non rainy, days we had while I was there. The reflection was just too perfect not to capture. And the deep blue color of the river was the best color I have ever seen.

Lighting

The lighting in the photo was only the source of the sun, which is all it really needed anyway!

Equipment

Since I was traveling light and abroad for a short time, I only brought my Canon point and shoot. I got it at Christmas from my parents just a few short weeks before this photo was taken. They said it was the best present they ever gave me. No other equipwas used, just me, myself, and my beloved camera.

Inspiration

I love traveling and I love architecture even more. Everywhere I looked while in Florence was a photo just begging to be taken. And when I saw the absolutely perfect reflection of the bridge and houses in the water it was too good to be true. It's very hard to see that beautiful of a reflection.

Editing

Truthfully, I did not have to do very much post processing for this photo. All I did was make the colors a little more vibrant!

In my camera bag

It all depends! I try and carry my DSLR wherever I go now, as that is the only camera I have. If I'm out and about and do not have my cameta, I do always have my cell phone, but not my first choice. With my camera I have my amazing 50mm and then also my 24mm and the kit lenses that came with the camera.

Just keep your eyes out for anything and everything! Even the simplest thing can make beautiful art!
