Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was made during a long weekend holiday in hotel "De bovenste molen" in Venlo Netherlands on 20 march 2015 around noon. In a small lake near the hotel I saw the swans.
Time
The photo was made around noon (12:00 hr).
Lighting
little hazy clear sky.
Equipment
f/8 1/200 sec ISO 800, with my old Canon 5D Mk1 with a 24-105 Sigma ART lens.
Inspiration
The reflection of the two birds and calm atmosphere (light conditions) were nice. It was not a matter of getting inspired but urge to do. The situation when the two birds turned parallel to each other asked to make the image.
Editing
The image was taken in RAW (CR2 format). While developing in Canons Digital Photo Professional (DPP) I used auto white balance (In this case about 4500 K), because colors appeared better than other or set by hand. The original photo is cropped to upstanding format so the reflection is the centre of the image. No 1/3 rule but steady in the middle to give the image a calm atmosphere.
In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mk1, Sigma 24-105 mm 1:4 Art lens; 2x pol filters, Grad Density filter, 1000ND filter, Canon 100-400 L Mk1, extra batteries, self made pinhole lens (made of cameracap with some plumbery gear and lens plate made of 0,05 mm stainless with a very tiny hole), lens cleaning tissues, lens brush, some macro-rings, macro front filterlens.
Feedback
1) Always keep your camera parate. 2) Photograph in RAW format. 3) Have a good eye what is nice to photograph. Do not forget the background! 4) Take care to use right camera settings (aperture and time). I usually work in Av mode. 5) Take time to photograph and to correct afterwards. 6) Select only the good images that tell something or are worth publishing!
