It was precisely 11:31 AM on April 23, 2014. It was the beginning of summer in the Middle East and the weather was pretty warm.Lighting
I really wanted to capture the image in its right essence. It was very bright outside, so I moved the tray with chillies on our kitchen serving table and left the backyard door open to let the bright light into kitchen – just enough light to give a balanced exposure and brightness but not too bright to hinder the colour.Equipment

For me photography is a passion. It helps me to record our journey as a family. I want to make memories through the photos I take. A picture is worth a thousand words, and a memorable photo is a poem in colours. It might be just a good shot for a few, but for us it is the emotion and memories associated with it that inspires me more. My wife loves gardening and growing flowers and vegetables. She created a beautiful green space in our backyard (in the middle of a desert country) and these fiery red chillies were a part of it. She planted the seeds and nurtured the plants. We got a plentiful harvest in April. And since we couldn't use all of them, she decided to sun dry the chillies and preserve them to be used later on. It was during this process I took this photo. It’s a beautiful memory of something that is special to her and to us. The fiery red colour was so mesmerizing that I couldn’t resist taking an instant photo!Editing
I try not to make too many changes to the original image/photo. I often try to capture with the best possible settings so as not to meddle with the image. For this particular photo, I just adjusted the shadow. That's it. The clarity, vibrancy, luminance, exposure and contrast is original.In my camera bag

Photography is a mirror of life. So just capture what you see, when you see and what you feel. If it turns out to be appealing, share it. With close-up photography the most important aspects are light and shadow. The presence of appropriate amount of light is crucial to capture the image as you see it. On the other hand, no shadow or too much shadow might make the photo look over exposed/bright or too dark/dull. It’s the right balance of light and shadow that will bring the subject alive.
