There is nothing quite like the hair-do of an infant mountain gorilla. With their long fur, and constant cradling and snuggling maternal contact these youngsters often develop fantastic hair styles worthy of pop-stars. Baby gorillas, like most primates, require enormous investment from their mothers for security, nutrition and normal development. They are not usually weaned until about 3 years old and their births are normally spaced about every 5 years by successful mothers.

Beautiful. Incredible tenderness in the Mother's expression. So human like in many ways. I recently photographed a chimp with her baby showing that same human like trait. Understandable though with them being so genetically close to humans . Apes are such stunning animals.
