Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken at a wedding I was shooting in August. It was shot just before the reception at the Lough Erne Golf Resort in Northern IrelandTime
This was taken at 16:07.Lighting
The was no flash used in this image. It's just natural light coming from the sun to the right of the camera. The sun was dodging in and out of clouds all day and this was taken just as it was peeking through. It gave a nice even light.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 7D and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L lens. Settings were f4.5, ISO-160, 1/500s at 105mmInspiration
While I was shooting the bride getting ready earlier in the day I spotted this tattoo on the bride's sister's back, who also happened to be one of the bridesmaids. As soon as I saw it I knew this was the image I wanted to produce. I called the sister to one side and told her I'd be coming for her later, I was going to use her as a prop lol. Near the end of the day and called the sister over and positioned her and the bride and groom and this is the result.Editing
This was taken in dull flat lighting and ending up being slightly under-exposed. In lightroom I simply opened up the shadows and converted to black & white. In my camera bag
To be honest I don't have a great deal of equipment, compared to some photographers I know. My bag always contains a Canon 7D and I recently purchased an old second hand 5D. My go to lens is the Tamrom 28-75mm f2.8 and I also pack the Canon Nifty 50 (50mm f1.8). A very cheap lens that I find produces images way beyond its cost. Lighting is just a single Canon 430EX Speedlite and a Yongnuo YN560-III. I also have a Godox AD180 that always travels in the boot (trunk) of my car should I need any additional lighting. Thankfully I have very generous photographer friends and I'm always able to borrow other equipment if I need it.Feedback
Just always be on the lookout for something different. We view the world in 360 degrees. Don't be that engrossed by what's in front of you that you forget to look around as well as up and down for a different angle.
