This view is part of the Falzarego Pass in the Dolomites.Steeped in world war one history as this whole area was the site of bitter battles between the Italians and the Austrians. There are still numerous trenches around this place.The path you see going in the opposite direction leads up to Chinque Torri consisting of five prominent peaks which again was heavily defended during the war and there is a museum there depicting the severe hardship and loss of life sustained on both sides.
