This is a sunrise over the panoramic view outside my atelier.I am a professional sculptor, my atelier is in the woods of the Mugello-area of Tuscany (Italy). It is beautyful to step out the door of your house and to see the sun rising in front of you.Time
I took this photo at an early winter-morning.Lighting
There was just the very first morning sunlight.Equipment
I used a Pentax Optio 33L (with 3megapixel sensor...).The camera was handheld to do the photo.Inspiration
The initial impulse was just to document this beautyful and magical sky because it was the morning after my nephew was born. I had the feeling that it was something very nice to be wellcomend with a sky like this the first morning of his life....Then I got the idea to ad a black silhouette to the composition to make it even more magical. I tried to integrate trees etc. and liked the bird-sculpture most at the end. In normal daylight I don't like that sculpture but as a silhouette it becomes somehow majestic.Editing
I did some "unsharp mask" and adjusted the contrast a little in Photoshop. In my camera bag
I still don't own a digital reflex, I am using a Panasonic FZ20 or one of my small compact cameras.Feedback
Very often my photos are done spontaneously without "planning" - like that morning. - It sounds banal but the most important thing for me is to keep the batteries of the camera always charged ;-) I am not a professional photographer but since I am ten years old I just shoot what triggers my creativity,my interest or my emotions. I like digital cameras a lot: you can review the photos immediately on the display and so you can experiment and do "trial and error" until you are satisfied with the result without spending a lot for films and waiting "years" until the photos come back from the lab.
