Location
This photo was taken in New York City. Its the Union Square Greenmarket, one of the great public spaces located in an historic intersection, Broadway and Union Square. On market day the place is packed. Small family farms from Upstate NY, Long Island and neighboring States set up booths and sell delicious fresh fruits and vegetables. Vendors sell a variety of other foods, like baked goods, cheese, fish, meat, cider, syrup, etc..Time
I took the photo very early in the morning, before all of the crowds blocked the vendor set ups.Lighting
No special lighting was used.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3200 SLR. No flash. I actually just used an "auto" setting.Inspiration
Watching the early morning set up of this greenmarket seemed an interesting thing to do and I was looking for something to practice my photography skills. NYC has its own charm. Union Square is historic; colorful and the stacking of massive amounts of colorful fruits and vegetables seemed like art and photo worthy. The park area nearby makes it a great place to hang out and people watch too.Editing
I cropped this photo, no other post processing. In my camera bag
When I took this photo in 2013, I was just learning about photography. I had a Nikon D3200 and the kit 200 mm zoom lens. Now, I have a D7200 with a 24-70 lens and a 70-200 lens which I carry around. I usually just hold my camera. Carrying around a tripod on a subway and around the city just too cumbersome.Feedback
I would suggest going to your location early, be patient and look for an interesting subject, something that tells a story. In this case the many different kinds of stacked root vegetables made for a colorful photo, but the lady shopping added character, a story, an instant in the life of an ordinary NYC shopper.
