Location
The photo was taken at Oxbow Bend in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. Oxbow Bend is an overlook along highway 89/191 between Jackson Lake Junction and Moran Junction.Time
The photo was taken at sunset when the sun almost disappears behind Grand Teton Mountains.Lighting
I love the soft, diffused light that happens as the sun sets. A striking landscape photo usually includes something out of the ordinary like clouds, fog or a reflection. I got lucky to have a little of each.Equipment
This was shot on Canon 40D with Canon EF 17-40 f/4L lens. I used tripod.Inspiration
I was leaving Yellowstone National Park and heading home when I saw this beautiful spot. The sun was setting, everything around was bathed in warm golden light; I jumped out of the car and took the picture.Editing
I used Adobe Photoshop to lighten foreground bushes that were too dark. Also, I increased the contrast and vibrancy a little. In my camera bag
I like to go to locations far away from parking lots which means I hike great distances. So, I do not have Cannon 40D anymore, instead there is Sony A6000 in my bag. I got few favorite lenses - Sony - Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Zoom Lens, Sony - 35mm f/1.8 Prime Lens and Sony - 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 Telephoto Lens.Feedback
For good sunset photo you need to have clouds, better a lot of clouds in the sky and some luck. No two days are exactly the same. Suffice it to say some days are simply better than others!
