Location
I was wandering through a nearby park, mostly looking for interesting trees to photograph when i noticed this guy peeking up from out of the grass. I figured he would fly away if I got too close. Since I happened to have a fairly long lens available and so, as quietly as I could, I swapped it out. I started taking photos as I crept toward him. I was surprised that he didn't move until I got this shot. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I do love the angle and how he was lifting his head. It gives him something of an annoyed look. I couldn't get a better pose from a professional model.Time
I don't remember the exact time this was taken but it was an early evening in July. The sun was still pretty high in the sky.Lighting
I was pretty much a prisoner to the existing light. Luckily this was beneath the trees' canopy so the sun light was a bit soft and diffuse.Equipment
As I was out tromping around in the woods I had my back up Nikon, a D50. The shot was handheld despite the fact that I'd slapped on a 300mm zoom lens.Inspiration
This was just one of those happenstance moments you can sometimes luck into. The bird was very co-operative by striking a wonderful pose and holding it.Editing
There is absolutely no processing or post-production work done to this photograph. In my camera bag
This all depends on what I'm shooting and where I'm going.Feedback
Hope you are as lucky as I was on this day.
