Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my home. I had just received a new Sony a7 II camera as a gift for Christmas and was eager to use it.

Time

I took this photo at night when I could better control my sources of light.

Lighting

I have a small light tent. For a better result I used my velvet black blouse as a background. Black velvet is one of the best materials to absorb light. I used two lamps as light sources.

Equipment

I used Sony a7 II with a Zeiss 55mm lens, a tripod, a set of two lamps and a light box.

Inspiration

This absolutely alien looking orange was growing on the tree in my backyard. I was watching it transform through the fall. I wanted to make a clean picture of just this amazing fruit. Is it giving birth to another orange or eating it?

Editing

I hung this orange on a wire in the light box. In Photoshop it was pretty easy to hide this wire using the stamp tool.

In my camera bag

I love my new Sony a7 II camera. It is so light and easy to hold. Some time ago I and five other photographers took a photo road trip. At the end of the day many of them were complaining of how their hands were hurting from the weight of the awesome cameras they had. I had no problem with mine. And the Sony has a very nice grip. It is just a pleasure to hold this camera every time.

Feedback

Nature gives us so many wonderful subjects to admire, you just need to take a closer look around and you will find something that would amaze you and others.
