Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Scottland Yard Park in Peoria, Arizona.

Time

It was taken the first Saturday in February around 2:15pm in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here in Arizona, so I decided to take advantage of the wonderful weather. I took my daughter out to take her birthday portraits since we were not able to get them done at a portrait studio this year.

Lighting

Lighting was just the natural sunlight.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS Rebel T2i with a Canon 35-80mm lens, no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

Have been creating slideshows for years from pictures I had taken at my kids sporting events. Starting getting a lot of compliments on my photography skills, so decided to try my hand at portraits....Birthday, Holidays, Family and Couples to start out.

Editing

After uploading the image to my computer, I used a sepia filter during the cropping process.

In my camera bag

The only equipment I have is my camera a Canon EOS Rebel T2i and 2 different lenses; a Canon Zoom Lens EF 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 III & a Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III.

Feedback

I'm self taught, everything I capture is still a work in progress. So the advice I would give is, find a camera you are confident in operating and don't get discouraged. You will take hundreds of pictures and not every one is going to be the best shot, there will always be pictures that come out blurry or shaky. Take your time, be patient and keep praticing, your eye for details and lighting will only improve with every minute behind the lens.
