The photo was taken in my home in Kerala, India. This was an old rusty chain of weighing balance. I am a self taught photographer, so every shoot is pretty much a new lesson for me.Time
This is one of my favorite images. This was taken late in morning. Had no tripod so I tried to balance the camera on my hand and elbow best I could . This was taken on July 23, 2016 at 10:45 AM.Lighting
Plenty of light was available due to the early morning time. I wanted this image to look rusty and want to draw the viewer into the scene. Natural light was there more than what i needed. So I decided to increase ISO and shutter speed to minimize the incoming light for adding drama as well as making the image more dramatic.Equipment
This image was shot in Nikon D3200 with an AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was looking for old and rusty things. So was walking with my camera looking around to capture a good shot. Finally this rusty chain of old weighing balance caught my attention and I freeze that moment. How old is this I don't know. I had started to see it from my childhood days itself. It was there before my existence. At that time, it was young beautiful like humans in their youth. Now it is in its old age continuously working...Editing
Usually I only alter its temperature, exposure, contrast, white balance. Nothing more than that is done.In my camera bag
In my bag, that was a funny question. I usually carry my camera Nikon D3200 along with 18-55 mm kit lens and 55-200 mm tele lens. Then I stuff my purse, headphones etc. as per where I'm heading to.Feedback
Try to capture texture. It will tell you a story. If you love dramatic then reduce the light according to your perspective. Have patience unless and until you attain what you want.
