Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Badgers Creek in Victoria, Melbourne Australia.

Time

Took this photo at 7am on a rainy day.

Lighting

I used just natural light, it was a rainy day so at 7am the light was perfect.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D750, Tamron 24-70mm lens, Manfrotto tripod and gumboots. A good pair of gumboots don't go astray.

Inspiration

I was out with a photographer friend and we decided to go exploring creeks and we found this spot out of the normal tracks. When I saw what I had infront of me I quickly lined up the shot and waiting for the moment the rain stopped. I was so happy with the results even though I had to fight off blade grass and leeches. Worth it.

Editing

I just did a quick touch up on Lightroom, adjusted the colours very slightly and made it a little sharper.

In my camera bag

In my Bag I have my Nikon D750, Nikon 70-210mm zoom, tamron 24-70mm, nikkor 50mm, Manfrotto tripod, cleaning kits, rain kit.

Feedback

The best advice I can give is to line up your shot, let it tell a story. In this case I used the rocks to line up my shot and the story would be a memory trigger into walking on pebbles, splashing feet. Wait for perfect light it makes all the difference. And think outside the normal. You have a set of eyes that can see things others can't. And remember art is so diverse so be proud of your work and keep shooting. Oh and the most important advice ever, enjoy yourself.
