Location
I take this photo in the beautiful region of Carrasqueira - Comporta (South Portugal). It´s a fisherman´s village with a rustic wood construction. The name of this particular place is Porto Palafitico and National Geographic already have been there to make a cover story. It´s a beautiful and calm place where you can enjoy and taste a true sea fish on local restaurants.Time
It was aproximaly 8h30 p.m. of a perfect July afternoon, i have to await for the sun come down and capture is beautiful color reflecting on the wood bridge.Lighting
I love to take pictures on sunset time, this particular picture, give us a sensation of the temperature of that day (very hot), and the warm colour a feeling of calm and peace. When i see this i just thought what comes after the sunset and how wonderful was to be here and spend a great time.Equipment
I use a Canon 5DSR with the 24-70mm f4, a 430exIII flash that i use to bring some light to the floor. I iforgot to take the trepod with me that day, so i was not able to take longexposures, i even try but the wood floor it moves with the waves, is so fragile.Inspiration
I was inspired by the shape of the wood constrution, like you have two ways, but just one could be easy to walk and pick the boat that can take you to the gold (sun) and other margin. Here like so many times in life you can choose from 2 options. You can swiim a little and rest on the improved constrution and just looking around, or take risk´s and pick the small boat to travel or fishing on the sea (action).Editing
I just increase a little the red tones in lightroom. In reality the red tones where actually there. In my camera bag
Normally i bring on my bag a 5dsr, a Canon 24-70mm f/4, a Sigma Art 35mm, a Canon 70-200mm f/4, one Canon 430exIII flash, a Nissin Di700A flash, 2 Phottix triger´s, 1 Phottix Odin II transmiter, 2 filtter´s Rolley (one polarized and other till 10 stops/cut) a Manfrotto 055 Tripod (that i iforgot that day).Feedback
An important thing is to arrive the earliest possible to the local. You must watch the local, trying to understand the trajectory of the sun and position yourself safely. If you have time, you can prepare the equipment, make some shoots to test, check how will be the final result and understand if you can take one or more "wow" pictures, because for me there are not two day´s equal, even if i take this picture at the same time on the next day, i am shure the result was not be the same. So grab the opportunity to take the "photo" your photo!
