Behind The Lens

Location

We have pretty big space backyard at our house. That empty space fills with some of wild grass that grown naturally and small pond near it. And that location quite perfect for the living of many kind of bugs and insect. Though it sounds wild, but it still tidy and maintained.

Time

Mostly I took the photo of the bugs start from 8.30 am till 11.00 am.

Lighting

Honestly I don't have any lighting equipment. If I need it, I only depend on my camera flash.

Equipment

I'm using Nikon D 5500 and Tamron 17-200 mm f 2.8 additional with macro filter attached on the lens.

Inspiration

I love taking picture of bugs. From the flying bugs like bees, dragonflies, butterflies till the crawling like spiders and ants. Because it's quite challenging myself and it will improve my focus and sensitivity when those animals move. Though sometime I will look like ridiculous people running around my backyard just for chasing the butterfly.

Editing

I'm not often processing my photo that I took unless if I think it needed. Even if I do any processing, I only change it become black and white instanly or playing with contrast and saturation.

In my camera bag

Actually I'm kind of complicated person who like to bring anything. I have my camera (absolutely) complete with the tamron 17-200 mm attached. Some macro lens filter in any size of range and macro lens tube. Mini gorilla tripod which can be attached anywhere since it very flexible to use. My Helios 58-44 also for portrait ini. And the Nikon 15-55 mm as the standard kit. Though in many occasions only less of those stuff was used.

Feedback

This is probably the normal advice that photographer has to have. Patience and concentration. The rest is depend on how your sensitivity take controls about the moving insect and how you manage yourself when you took the image. Keep calm and always try to make the animals comfortable. By doing those things, you can get many picture from many angle. Then you can have many varieties of pictures from one object.
