Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a little and very nice wood in Tribano, city of Padua (Italy).

Time

I love so much this photo! I took it in the afternoon, about 02.00 pm. The model is my best friend. She loves very much to be photographed! I said her to position itself in front of me pretending to sleep with origami blue butterflies around.

Lighting

I took this picture in the afternoon when the light was strong:I wanted a very bright image.

Equipment

I used only my lovely Canon 1100D with my 50mm 1.8 lens.

Inspiration

This picture belongs to a personal project called "Origami". I took simple portraits in a natural background, but with the peculiarity that every person had in its body (Head, shoulders, wrist, face) Origami stuck. The position of models depended on Origami.U

Editing

Usually portrait photography requires a lot of processing (Lightroom + Photoshop). In this case, I had to develope the raw to correct the white balance, lights and colors in Lightroom. All this to create the right atmosphere. Then, I used Photoshop to delete skin defects and disturbing elements of bacground.

In my camera bag

Then first thing i always pack is my Canon 50 mm 1.8 prime. I love this lens because I can create good bokeh. I then pack a Canon 1100D body, my first reflex and my partner of photography adventures! The third, but no less important lens is my 18/55 mm. I think that You can take wonderful pictures even with a simple lens.

Feedback

Take pictures in wood isn't simple for the light. The shadow of the leaves can be a problem but also a way to create something interesting. Portrait photography is a way to communicate something with people' gestures. Be prepared for the diversity of model's positions, colors and situations.
