Truly a hidden gem in the middle of Reykjavík. This is beautiful and fairly large park and, inexplicably but fortunately, not in the tourist's radar.
Besides of being the epicenter for some major historic events (I understand that the 'open air' Árbæjarsafn museum is near and you can find many information boards along the way), it's absolutely beautiful.
Walking around the paths within the forest is so refreshing and revitalizing. The Elliðaá river that goes through the valley and delimits the park, form very nice waterfalls screaming to be photographed. It's the perfect escape for the bustling-tourist-filled downtown. Just amazing.
