Too bad the power lines are in this shot. You might expect to see some Vikings. :)

Location
I shot this picture near Volda, Norway. The fjord in the background is Voldsfjord, this is the western coast of norway where you find a rich coastal culture reaching several centuries back in time. These ships are replicas of the same ships the vikings would use to defend their settlements, but also travel to the larger towns for trading and social arrangements.Time
It is shot in the evening, as the weather lightneded up from recent rain. You can almost sense the moist from the light and colors in the picture.Lighting
Lighting is all natural.Equipment
Used nothing more than a Nikon D90 with its standard issue 18-105.Inspiration
Me and a pal was driving from Møre to Bergen after buying a car. As we drove south we saw these ships along the road and decided it was a great time and place to stop for some rest and some pictures.Editing
I have only tweaked the contrast. Other than that, the D90 some times did stunning work all by itself when shooting outside. In my camera bag
Today I have totally changed from Nikon to Sony's mirrorless cameras. I have a A6000 and an A7S in my bag, along with the lenses I feel appropriate for the task. I try to take with me my tripod as often as possible - it is nothing expensive, just a cheap model bought at a local hardware store.Feedback
My best advice is to stop and look at what you can find when you are out on roadtrips. There is so many places and things to be seen that we normally just pass.
