Behind The Lens

Location

On a long awaited family vacation to Perth Australia. overlooking Perth city and Swan River adjacent to the Narrows Bridge.

Time

this was shot 31st May 2016, the day before the 1st official day of winter in Australia. Sunset is early, around 5pm and the nights very dark. this was shot at approximately 6pm.

Lighting

A clear sky with the only lighting coming from the city, street lights and traffic.

Equipment

This shot was taken on a Canon EOS 70D with a Tamron 18-200mm telephoto lens, I used a tripod to steady the shot as it was a 30 second exposure.

Inspiration

I wanted to remember Perth as I saw it. Perth is somewhere I've wanted to visit for a long time and seeing professional photos online inspired me to take this photo. this photo exactly depicts what I was seeing.

Editing

I always shoot in RAW as it gives me a little leeway in post production to adjust the white balance. I enhanced the colours using photoshop.

In my camera bag

I carry my Canon EOS 70D with a Tamron 18-200mm as my main lens. alongside that I have a Canon 18-55mm macro lens. tripod. remote trigger, filters and lens hood.

Feedback

use a tripod, absolutely essential. be patient. perhaps a remote trigger to minimise movement of the camera.
