Originally used as marching grounds by the French military, citizens have later claimed small plots to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers for the local market. Trees have been planted and small tracks have started to appear breaking the symmetry of the space. It is now mainly walked by tourists and the eventual lovers that like getting lost among the trees.
