Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Leeds castle in Kent, United kingdom

Time

If I recall possibly between 13.00 - 1400pm

Lighting

The light was a bit of a mixed bag really, you would have short periods of nice sunshine then cloudy and overcast, so the weather was very changeable.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7100 camera, with a Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED lens. No tripod or flash, the camera was handheld

Inspiration

The peacocks was quite happily roaming freely around the grounds of the castle within touching distance, and are far too beautiful a bird not to photograph, I suppose you could call them the supermodels of the bird kingdom.

Editing

I only like to crop and auto-lighten the white balance during post processing, and not alter the picture too much,as I'm a kind of what I snap is what you see photographer.

In my camera bag

Usually my Nikon 50mm f/1.8G lens, and my favourite lens is my Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED lens, I've recently upgraded my lenses and now added a Nikon 85mm f/1.8G, and a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro lens which I'm quite excited to use.

Feedback

Check and double check your camera settings for the correct type of picture you want to take, and shoot away, keep checking your shots you've taken and alter your settings if the weather changes, and remember sometimes the pictures don't look so good on the play back on your camera, don't delete them until you've checked them on your computer, try using a full HD monitor for best results, you maybe able to fix some pictures with an art program, and take plenty of smaller memory cards for your camera, instead of really large memory cards as they easily corrupt.
