Mrs Stevens was a hat maker and housewife. She loved to fly fish for brook trout and a friend told her she should tie her own flies. Generally flies are tied with the assistance of a fly tying vise but since she tied feather together by hand when making fashionable hats of the day Mrs Stevens never used a vice to tie her award winning streamers. The state of Maine made a day of honor for her contributions to fly fishing as an ambassador of the sport with a bronze plaque to be presented to her at a ceremony, unfortunately Mrs Stevens passed away the day before, her flies have been imitated but none come with her Magic.
