My grand daughter's idea of halloween. It was a lot of fun setting this up. She was dressed in the gown and was carrying the doll as we walked around the neighborhood looking for a good background for the shot. We got quite a few stares from people wondering what we were doing

This is one of the creepiest shots I've seen. It reminds me of "American Horror Story". GREAT job!

Location
The picture was taken at a small park near my home in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. My grand daughter wanted to get a "spooky" Halloween picture, so the day before I walked around the park to find a good setting. There were a number of good locations, not only the farmhouse, but overgrown footpaths, gnarled trees and swampy ground. Pictures were taken in each of these locations. I decided that the farmhouse was the best background for the final image. Besides the wedding dress, I wanted to find a doll that would be an appropriate prop. My grand daughter wanted a picture with her favorite stuffed dog, which I took, but it didn't convey the creepiness I was looking for. I convinced her to use a doll that her grandmother had when she was a child.Time
This was a late afternoon/early evening shot.Lighting
The white wedding dress has a sheen to it and because it was a rather sunny day, I wanted to wait for the softer late-afternoon light to avoid a lot of reflection and extreme light/dark contrasts.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon 50, 18-55 mm f3.5 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
A request from my grand daughter to take a creepy Halloween picture.Editing
There was post processing involved. I added fog for effect and added a slight sepia layer over a desaturated layer. In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5, Sigma 70-300 f4, Nikkor 60mm f2.8Feedback
Don't overlook local areas for great places to shoot. Sometimes the best locations are right in your backyard.
