Location
This photo is taken at Pacific Northwest in the Late Spring of 2015. The name of this waterfall is Panther Creek Falls.Time
The photo is taken at early morning, as the day goes up, the the mist increases in the gorge and also direct sun light falls on waterfall.Lighting
Early morning light or overcast light is best for this waterfall to shoot. This is always lush green in the spring and late spring time.Equipment
Nikon D810 with Nikkor 14-24 lens. Camera mounted on Gitzo Mountaineering Tripod (old model, I've this tripod for 11 years now). Circular Polarizer filter to enhance the greens on the rocks and trees. F16, ISO 100, 1 sec exposure. Keep wipping the lens constantly as lot of mist comes on lens.Inspiration
Pacific Northwest is one of my favourite places to shoot. This waterfall is so beautiful, but hard to capture due to the trees coming in the views distracting the viewer. I loved going into the water and taking this straight looking into the waterfall shot. I love capturing the light and the mist and this photo gave me that opportunity. Other challange was the hike going down to the water. It was hard for me, but taking the challange to go down to captuer this beauty is more rewarding.Editing
Yes. I used Lightroom to adjust some white balance. And then into Photoshop removed few water spots and enhanced the lumosity. This is not HDR image, but a single exposure. In my camera bag
Nikon D810 my main camera, Nikon D800 my backup. For landscape photography, I carry Nikkor 14-24 wide angle, Nikkor 28-300 tele zoom, and Nikkor 24-70 mid zoom lenses. I use Wanderpana filters for my Nikkor 14-24 and Hoya and BW filters for my other two lenses. Tripod, release cable, lots of lens cloths, shower cap for camera to cover at such spots from the water spray. And lots of passion, enthusiasm and determination and fun memories.Feedback
Follow your passion and love. I like to capture nature and prefer to do minimum post processing. Mother Nature is beautiful and a bliss. Learn to enjoy it also instead just taking photos.
