I watched two dragonflies have a mid-air skirmish which resulted in them both hitting the water like kamikaze pilots. They both escaped the surface film of the pond and returned to their aerial life-stage. This image shows one of them struggling to become airborne again. Taken at the Wolds Way Lavender Farm near Wintringham in North Yorkshire.
