Location
This photo was taken at Narrabeen on the Northern Beaches.Time
I remember it being a Saturday and it was an overcast sort of day and on and off drizzle. When I got here the waterfall was just a trickle, i was free to move about and get different compositions. At one point I heard the shrubs and branches being disturbed, a rock wallaby jumped out and across the flat rocky bed and onto the other side and vanished. Then out of nowhere it rained and a torrent of water quickly transformed this lifeless waterfall into something quite beautiful. It was amazing how the weather turned so quickly, then my survival kicked in and thought about how I was going to get out of this safely. I retreated and made my way back down. It was an amazing experience!!Lighting
It was overcast and just natural lighting spilling in through breaks in the trees.Equipment
At the time I had a Canon 60D and a 10-22mm lens a shutter trigger and a Reinhold and a tripod.Inspiration
I had scouted this location only a week or two earlier so decided to go back and get some photos.Editing
At the time I was only learning so I think it was very basic edits on iPhoto on my Mac.In my camera bag
I still have my 60D, now though I use a Canon 5Dmkiii run a 16-35mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, a series of filters from Nisi a W2204 Sirui tripod a 2x extender and various bit and pieces.Feedback
Experiment...Play around with different shutter speeds and see what effect works for you and the particular situation. Don't be afraid of failing because from failure comes knowledge and experience and growth. Follow other photographers who's style speaks to you or want to achieve similar results, the internet nowadays is a great tool to learn many aspects of photography at you're own speed.
