Location
The photo was taken on a small Island called Mosquito Island in Hungary. This is my favorite place to have a walk with my dog, the river can be reached through the forest where my dog loves to play in the water. I noted upon arrival to the island that is was flood by the river, so it became a perfect place for taking photos.Time
It was shot around noon, nearly the worst time for taking photos but I had my camera with me and the place was beautiful, so i had to find a location that allow some light through the background foliage. This was taken on May 22, 2016 at 11:50 AMLighting
The lighting for this shot was natural light, it was midday not the best time for shooting but the forest gives enough protection from direct light.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon d7100, with a 85mm f1.8 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I always try to choose locations with depth since I like to shoot with longer focal lengths, and I prefer to show emotions and expressions behind photos so i love to capture my dog when she is having fun. This time I wanted to photograph my dog when she is running in the water with her usually funny expression.Editing
I always shoot Raw because it gives me a larger latitude in post- processing to achieve the final result I envision so i do post processing on every photo. I use Photoshop to bring out the shadows bring down the highlights tweak the contrast, blacks and whites if necessary i usaully correct the white balance because camera auto whitebalance makes mistake i also use noise reduction and at the end sharpening the image.In my camera bag
I have a Nikon d7100 camera and 50mm f1.8 and my favorite 85mm f1.8 lens which has a wonderful bokeh.Feedback
i like shallow depth of filed, I only wanted the head of the dog to be sharp therefore I used wide aperture, I don’t prefer iso higher than 800 but I wanted to freeze the movement for which a short shutter speed was needed. Fortunately at iso 800 setting the shutter speed was 1/1250 because of the wide aperture that was perfect for this picture.
