Behind The Lens

Location

This Photo was taken at the Melbourne Zoo.

Time

It was around 11AM with harsh sunlight.

Lighting

The sunlight was the only source of the lighting. Although the light was harsh, I used it for my advantage as I wanted the negative space to capture the essence of the subject busy in itself.

Equipment

NIKON D5100 55-300 mm kit lens No flash

Inspiration

The subjects always inspire me first. The majestic pelican is always awe-inspiring. The idea of the image came when I saw the view finder and there I saw the negative space. I then went forward with the idea.

Editing

Little retouching in Lightroom. Enhancing the contrast and bit of highlights.

In my camera bag

I am a poor photographer when it comes to hobbyist photography. I carry Nikon D5100 with 18-55 kit lens and 55-300mm kit lens. I have an aluminium vanguard tripod with some gradient sunglasses lens that I use as ND filter

Feedback

Always stay clean and composed when it comes to wildlife and bird photography. Watch the subjects behaviour and wait for it to give cues. The ideas will strike on its own. Negative space in an image is important sometimes as it helps get more publication by assisting more writing space for the publication.
